Galen E. Cole
Galen E. Cole, Ph.D., M.P.H., L.P.C., is a licensed professional counselor and certified cognitive behavioral therapist. He has extensive training and experience in education, mass and interpersonal communication, public health, behavioral science research, and counseling psychology. He has taught behavioral and evaluation research, psychology, and a number of health related courses at the junior high, high school, and college levels. He has been on the faculty at Northern Arizona University, Arizona State University, and Pennsylvania State University, and is currently on the faculty at the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University.
Dr. Cole has extensive experience in public health and the behavioral sciences, including serving as a consultant to numerous hospitals and community-based organizations, serving as executive director of a not-for-profit foundation, working as an assistant director of public health in Phoenix, Arizona, and working as a research psychologist and director of research and evaluation activities in various centers, institutes, and offices at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention where he is now employed. He has been a trainer and consultant in the Central Asian Republics, Australia, Sub-Saharan Africa, and the Middle East, where he has conducted training with the Palestinian Health Authority and the Israeli Ministry of Health. His most recent international experience has involved guiding the United Children's Fund (UNICEF) in their efforts to develop, implement, and evaluate communication programs aimed at promoting "Better Parenting" in Kazakhstan and other Central Asian Republics.
Dr. Cole has been published widely in scientific journals and has authored and co-authored four books, including his book that was released by in November 2003, entitled "Parents Rule: A Systematic Approach to Raising Kids of All Ages." Dr. Cole and his wife Priscilla, are the parents of five children, ranging in age from 12 to 27.
