Grandparents Raising Grandchildren

According to the 2000 Census, over 92,000 grandparents were responsible for raising their grandchildren in the state of Georgia. Understanding the complexities of this phenomenon, The Department of Human Resources is reaching out to grandparents raising grandchildren by providing more access to resources through all of the Department’s services/programs.  Because we value families, we appreciate grandparents raising grandchildren and understand that caring for a child may have its challenges.

This listing includes resources and services that are available statewide or countywide and will serve as a place for grandparents to get further referrals for their individual needs. This list includes financial, health, and social services available for grandparents raising grandchildren provided by the Department of Human Resources Divisions and Offices.

The availability of services may depend on eligibility and your county of residence.

A word from DHR Commissioner B.J. Walker
I am proud to announce that we are building a Single System of Care. What does that mean? Whether you walk in to a Public Health County Office or a Child Support Office, staff will listen to you and figure out where you can find help. Once we know what you need, we will contact that office and make sure that you are seen for services. More »
